@Nova Preview

Here's a game preview for the Nova game on Saturday Feb. 2. And here's hoping it's not a repeat of the game a few weeks ago... afterall, it is on GROUNDHOG'S DAY!!!!

Shooting Breakdown-

FG% : Orange: 49% Nova: 44% Advantage: Orange

FT% I don't even need to look.... Advantage: Nova

3Pt Orange: 34% Nova: 35% Advantage: Push

Syracuse holds a few distinct advantages in this game. They are a better shooting team overall, for one. Secondly, Syracuse has a rather big size advantage over the Wildcats.

The Orange also have four guys that can really score the ball and that average over 12 pts. per game (Harris, Flynn, Greene, and AO). Nova has one in Scottie Reynolds. SU is currently playing, dare I say, better, having won their last two while Nova has lost their last three. Nova's last win was against the Orange.

Nova has a few advantages of their own. They have homecourt and they have a much deeper bench.

Background stories to think about:

Scoop doesn't get to play in front of his hometown crowd. Rick Jackson does.

Jay Wright is the best dressed coach in College Basketball.

Syracuse actually has an advantage by not playing in the Pavilion on Nova's campus. Small, crowded, hostile environments can be brutal and scary to young teams such as the Orange.

SU Keys to Victory:
Stay out of foul trouble (this will be a re-occuring theme)
Utilize size and go inside
Don't let Scottie Reynolds beat you... make their other, inconsistent players do it

Prediction: Orange-66 Nova-68
I hate picking against the Orange, but their depth problems will be too much to overcome against a team in DESPERATE need of a win.

Here's the best Nova blog in my mind... hopefully they give us a preview from their perspective...... I Bleed Blue and White
